IWD:Senator Mustapha Calls For Greater Inclusion Of Women in Politics

The Senator Representing Kwara Central, and the Turaki of Ilorin,Senator Saliu Mustapha has called for greater inclusion of women in politics. He made the remark today in commemorating 2025 International Women’s Day.

He said the resilience, intellect, and dedication of Nigerian Women, particularly those in Kwara Central are commendable.

Turaki of Ilorin asserted that their contribution to governance and community development are invaluable, and it is imperative that “we create more opportunities for them to thrive”.

He reiterated his commitment as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, production services and rural development, to supporting policies that promote Gender Equality and women’s empowerment. He explained that his recent multi-billion naira empowerment program prioritized women’s economic and social well-being.

In his words, “we must take deliberate steps to break barriers hindering women from leadership roles and ensure they are not just participants but key decision-makers in governance. I urge governments, policymakers, and the private sector to intensify efforts toward a truly inclusive society”.

Turaki of Ilorin unequivocally established that women’s empowerment remains his priority. He said in togetherness we can accelerate Action and create a future where women would thrive, lead, and drive sustainable development.
