
ABU lecturer, Dr. Umar Sani Bebeji dies in road crash
A Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Law, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Dr. Umar Sani Bebeji, has died in a ghastly road accident.
Confirming the death, a childhood friend and colleague of the deceased, Zubairu Lawal Bamalle of the faculty of Arts, ABU, said the accident occurred in Dumbin Rauga along Kaduna-Zaria Express way around 9Ã m, Saturday.
Aged 45, the deceased is survive by one wife and two children.
Though he bore the family name of Bebeji in Kano state, the deceased spent all his childhood in Tudun Wada, Kaduna, where he was buried at Kwanar Chanchangi cemetery.
The academic, who also served as the Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Law and Coordinator of the ABU Law Clinic, was widely respected by his students and colleagues.
Dr. Bebeji was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Commercial Law who also coordinated the ABU Law Clinic, where he championed clinical legal education and access to justice for underserved communities.
Colleagues and former students described him as an accomplished scholar, humble mentor and committed legal practitioner whose contributions to the development of legal education would be remembered.
