Kwara Governor’s Ex-Principal Private Secretary Endorses Saliu Mustapha for Senate
Hon. Abdullateef Oloyin, the immediate past Principal Private Secretary to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has endorsed Senator Saliu Mustapha as the most competent, reliable and acceptable candidate to represent Kwara Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly in the forthcoming general election.
Oloyin, widely regarded as one of AbdulRazaq’s closest political allies during his time in government, threw his weight behind Mustapha, the incumbent Senator representing Kwara Central and Turaki of Ilorin.
His endorsement represents a significant political boost for Mustapha and a potentially embarrassing development for the AbdulRazaq camp, particularly because of Oloyin’s longstanding association with the governor.
The development also adds to the growing list of prominent political figures in Kwara Central who have publicly backed Mustapha ahead of the senatorial contest.
Several influential personalities, including former lawmakers who have represented the district in the Senate, have recently rallied behind Mustapha, arguing that he possesses the temperament, accessibility and legislative qualities required to effectively represent the district in Abuja.
Among the latest was the immediate past Senator representing Kwara Central, Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, who openly rejected the prospect of AbdulRazaq representing the district in the Senate.
Speaking at the official launch of the Kwara Rainbow Coalition, Oloriegbe argued that legislative responsibilities require a different set of qualities from those needed to occupy an executive office.
Drawing from his own experience in the National Assembly, the former senator said:
“I have been at the National Assembly and I know the rudiments. If you must be a successful Senator, you must speak, you must relate with people, you must build relationships to push the interests of your people. Gov AbdulRazaq lacks these basic traits. He would therefore be the worst person for Ilorin Emirate to send to Abuja.”
