APC WOMEN FROM ZONE A TO ESTABLISH ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT INITIATIVE TO EMPOWER 88,000 WOMEN.

The APC women group , Zone ‘A’ has disclosed plans to establish an economic empowerment initiative targeted at empowering 88,000 women beneficiaries across the eight local government areas of the Zone.

Wife of the governor, Hajiya Fatima Bago stated this when she led the group on a solidaity visit to the farmer governor at the Government House Minna.

In a statement on Wednesday by Bologi Ibrahim,Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,Hajiya Fatima Bago said the vision is to empower 100 women in each of the 88 wards of Zone A, providing a token in business support to each beneficiary alongside entrepreneurship, training, mentorship and monitoring.

She disclosed that the initiative has the potential to reach 88,000 women, strengthen household incomes, reduce poverty and stimulate grassroot economic growth even as they seek for the State government’s partnership .

She said, the group has resolved that each member will go back to her respective local government and ward to be fully part of the structure that will effectively implement the program.

Hajiya Bago also hinted on an empowerment program she will be launching in Edati Local government targeted at empowering 1,000 women and youth and will subsequently be replicated across all the eight local government areas of Zone A.

In her own remarks, Hajiya Hannatu said, the Zone A women group is a united delegation of 100 women from 8 local governments and 88 wards of Zone A who have identified themselves with the remarkable achievements of the farmer governor.

She expressed the group’s appreciation to the farmer governor for his purposeful leadership and commitment and particularly commended his confidence in women as demonstrated by the appointment of women into strategic positions across government including the historic support for women through the appointment of female vice chairpersons across the the 25 local government areas of the State.

The group also resolved to endorse farmer Umaru Bago for a second term in office as they believe continuity will consolidate the developmental gains already achieved by him.

Highlight of the occasion was the decoration of the farmer governor with a Nupe traditional attire as a mark of recognition as a true nupe son
