Sultan declares Sunday as Sallah Day

In a joyous announcement marking the end of Ramadan, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has confirmed that Eid-el-Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

The confirmation comes after reports of the crescent moon being sighted across various regions of Nigeria.

Making the declaration on Saturday night, the Sultan, who also serves as the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, declared, “With the sighting of the moon, Sunday, March 30, 2025, will usher in the 1st of Shawwal 1446 AH, and Muslims across the nation will mark Eid-el-Fitr.”

The Sultan extended congratulations to Muslims for completing the sacred month of fasting and prayer, emphasising the importance of maintaining the values of patience, piety, and charity that were cultivated during Ramadan.

He urged the faithful to carry these virtues with them beyond the holy month, fostering unity and compassion in everyday life.

Eid-el-Fitr, the festival of breaking the fast, is expected to bring together families, friends, and communities across Nigeria in celebration and reflection.
