An Apology Letter To Distinguished Senator Saliu Mustapha

By Alhaji Abdullateef Bibire

Dear distinguished senator, the Turaki Ilorin, I say assalamualaikum waramotullah wabarakatu, sir.

I’m writing, on behalf of the discerning people, to apologize to you and plead with you to remain unperturbed over the ongoing blackmailing and unappreciative gestures directed at you, especially the recently trending letter by the Durbar committee that its contents are fueling existing uproar.

As a distinguished Senator whose achievements are there to speak for you even without you uttering words or anyone promoting you, you have sown your seeds of legacy in the hearts of the masses you represent and history will continue to be fair to you today or tomorrow.

Sincerely, this letter is borne out of my concern and respect for a patriot like you who is undoubtedly committed to the development of his city and yet be repaid with blackmail and condemnation by some ungrateful individuals among the good people of the emirate for the reasons best known to them.

As a philanthropist, a community builder with a track record of achievements at the grassroots level who has continued to celebrate people of impact in society, it will be disheartening to be condemned for my goodwill towards my community. That being said, putting myself in your situation, sir, I know what could be bothering your mind now as a result of the political war weighed against you, using and turning the very people you have helped against you. Friends becoming enemies, beneficiaries turned critics, and the public being brainwashed in the course to stain you. I know you will be disturbed and ask yourself a series of questions about what else you could have done for these people to satisfy them. However, I want you to know that that’s human nature, knowing and identifying only with what they are presently eating and forgetting where they are coming from or who has impacted their lives at some point in their lives.

Hence, sir, I want you to overlook their ignoble characters and forgive them. As a good leader you are known for, please don’t be offended and forge ahead with the continuation of your generosity.

Going forward, your distinguished, many of us won’t forget your kindness and your unmatched contributions to the development of the emirate and its environs through IEDPU.
Before being elected a senator, as a Turaki Ilorin, a revered title you earned through your recognized commitment to the progress of the emirate, you supported and dedicated your resources to see to the advancement of the entity, her prosperity, and her transformation, ensuring that individuals continue to exude our pride anywhere we are.

In history, as verified, no one, I repeat, no one has ever made a significant contribution as abundant as what you have contributed to the IEDPU and her Durbar events since 2018 it’s revived.
According to the open records, you have been a major donor or contributor to the emirate programs with the sole aim of promoting our culture and values. Your donations, such as horses, buses, scholarships, and cash support, are not what any good person of conscience will undervalue or forget any time soon, except the uncelebrated elements.

Specifically, in 2019, the donations, which included two horses, were received by Engr Sulyman Yahyah Alapansanpa to support the year’s Durbar event while equally donating a Siena bus to IEDPU itself; a record no one has come closer to, or if there’s any, it should be published with evidence. Your records are there and they are indispensable.

Your consistent demonstration of passion to propel the emirate to a global edifice where everyone from walks of life converges and celebrates is mirrored in your enduring gesture towards her development.

Emphatically, regardless of what your blackmailers churn out, some of us, including the masses who you have diligently served and empowered, will never forget and will serve as witnesses to your kindness, and we will be here to remind those who are going astray simply because of temporary profits they were offered.

Lastly, your distinguished senator, the distinctive Turaki Ilorin, I want you to know that you remain our pride, our light, and our favorite. And just like you continue to promote our culture, tradition, and values, especially the exalted seat of our royal father, His Royal Highness Emir Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR (sheuu!!!), we will also continue to hold you in high esteem, irrespective of their sinister propaganda to deter you from your responsibility.

Therefore, for being rewarded with undeserving sabotage and condemnation over your unprecedented contributions to the progress of Ilorin Emirate through IEDPU and other relative bodies, I tender my unreserved apology on behalf of the good individuals who feel ashamed of those sycophants who make themselves instruments for destabilization.

Also worthy of knowing is that I remain a bonafide member of APC, and HE Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is our party leader while you are my political leader.

With you and every one of us, the Emirate will continue to be number one.
