The Joint Community Development Association representing over eleven communities in the Oke Fomoh, Gaasaka, and Madi axis of Ilorin has raised a passionate appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq over the deteriorating condition of roads in the area.
In a formal letter submitted to the Public Complaints Commission, the association urged urgent government intervention, lamenting the severe impact of waterlogged terrain and deep potholes on residents’ mobility and livelihoods.
Speaking with Just Event Online TV after the meeting with the Commission, the Association’s President, Alhaji AbduRasheed Isiaka, decried the impassable state of the roads, especially during the rainy season.
He noted that the poor condition has led to frequent vehicle breakdowns, daily financial losses for transporters, and an alarming rise in road accidents.
“Tricycle operators, private car owners, and commercial bus drivers are suffering daily due to these terrible roads. It’s affecting our economy and putting lives at risk,” he stated.
The Association also visited the Ministry of Works, FERMA, KWARMA, Ilorin West Local Government Council, and the constituency offices of Senator Saliu Mustapha and Hon. Muktar Tolani Shagaya to seek further support in addressing the crisis.
Reacting, Hajia Abanishe Aderonke Ayodele, Acting Director of the Public Complaints Commission in Kwara State, assured the delegation that their concerns would be forwarded to the relevant authorities for immediate attention.
The Association emphasized that without swift action, the communities face continued economic hardship, rising insecurity, and loss of lives.
