
VANDALISM AND THEFT SUSPECTS APPREHENDED, STOLEN PROPERTY RECOVERED
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded yet another breakthrough in its intensified efforts to crackdown crime and criminality in the state.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, Subsequently, four (4) suspects have been arrested and a significant quantity of suspected stolen government and public property recovered following an intelligence-led raid on two scrap dumps in Uyo.
The operation commenced at approximately 4:45PM on July 15, 2025 and one Aniekpeno Essien Isaac (m) that was apprehended during a separate raid provided information leading operatives to the locations where stolen items were being sold. Acting on this intelligence, at about 9:00PM same day, Operatives of the Command raided the two scrap dumps.
During the raids, Three additional suspects were arrested namely:
- Moses Indiana (m)
- Nwokoro Onyemelum (m)
- Nnabuike Okonkwo (m)
Items recovered include:
- Pieces of generator sets
- Suspected vandalized government aluminum electric cables
- Roofing sheets
- Burnt copper electric wires
- A brand new set of assorted sizes of spanners
- Approximately half a bag of 5-inch nails
- An empty 5KG gas cylinder
- Galvanized pipes
- Angel bars
“All recovered items are suspected to have been stolen.
Investigation is ongoing”, according to the statement
