A Nigerian mother has been left devastated after her three-year-old son drowned in a well while in the care of his father, just hours after she allowed him to spend the weekend with him.

The grieving mother, who shared her heartbreaking story on social media, expressed deep sorrow and regret over her decision to let her estranged partner back into their child’s life.

According to her, the father of the child had abandoned her during pregnancy, denying responsibility and refusing to be involved in the boy’s upbringing. She struggled as a single mother for three years until he recently returned from abroad, got married, and pleaded for forgiveness.

Just a week later, he requested to take their son for the weekend, assuring her that he and his wife would take good care of the child. Tragically, less than nine hours after the boy was in his father’s care, she received the devastating news that her son had fallen into a deep well and drowned.
