CLTC Director General Commemorates International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusion
The Director General of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC), Ms. Rinsola Abiola, has joined global voices in commemorating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, calling for renewed commitment to building an inclusive and equitable society for all.
In a statement issued to mark the Day, Ms. Abiola described the annual commemoration as a powerful reminder that dignity, inclusion, and equal opportunity are not just aspirations but essential pillars of a just society.
She noted that this year’s theme, “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress,” underscores the responsibility of every individual and institution to support environments where all persons, regardless of ability can belong, contribute, and thrive.
Reaffirming CLTC’s dedication to championing equity, accessibility, and inclusion, the DG emphasized that true leadership must embrace diversity and amplify marginalized voices to ensure that no one is left behind.
“As we mark this Day, we recognize the strength, resilience, and untapped potential of persons with disabilities,” she stated. Ms. Abiola urged governments, institutions, and communities across Nigeria to intensify efforts aimed at building inclusive societies through policies, infrastructure, education, and empathy.
She further called on all citizens to commit to fostering respect, dignity, and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities, stressing that disabilities should never be viewed as barriers but as reflections of shared humanity and collective strength.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is marked globally on December 3 to promote understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the rights and wellbeing of persons with disabilities.
