
Nigerian Army Neutralizes Over 80 Terrorists, Rescues 34 Kidnapping Victims
The Nigerian Army has successfully neutralized more than 80 terrorists and rescued 34 people kidnapped across multiple states in coordinated operations conducted between December 25 and 29, 2025.
According to a reliable source at Army Headquarters, the operations were carried out in Borno, Adamawa, Sokoto, Katsina, Niger, Zamfara, Plateau, Delta, Cross River, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
In Borno State, combined air and ground assaults in Sowolwolo, Bama Local Government Area, and surrounding communities resulted in the elimination of 19 terrorists. Their supply camps were destroyed, and communication networks used by ISWAP and JAS were disrupted. Additional operations in Gulumba Gana, Kumshe, Kasho Miri, and Chongolokura killed another 38 terrorists. Intelligence reports have since identified high-profile terrorist leaders as targets for upcoming operations.
In Niger and Katsina States, military forces repelled attacks on the FOB Kwanar Dutse camp in Mariga Local Government and along the Shanono–Katsina route. One civilian was rescued, while 78 cattle and 28 sheep recovered from terrorists.
The Army also rescued 16 people in Kebbi State’s Unashi village and one person in Plateau State’s Wase Local Government area following intelligence-led operations.
Security operations extended to criminal activities nationwide. In Abuja, 11 illegal gold miners were arrested. Two suspected armed robbers were apprehended in Plateau, while in Delta State, two crude oil thieves were caught, and 2,600 liters of stolen crude oil recovered. In Cross River, three suspected pirates linked to the BIG JOE gang were arrested.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, enforcing law and order, and ensuring peace and security across the nation. Authorities confirmed that intelligence-driven operations will continue to rescue kidnapping victims and neutralize terrorist threats wherever they arise.
