Ganduje expresses shock over Kwankwaso’s alleged ‘enemy’ remark

The immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, has expressed shock and disappointment over comments allegedly made by former Kano State Governor, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, in which he reportedly referred to Ganduje as his enemy.

The remarks are coming amid heightened political tensions in Kano State following the alleged plan defection of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to the APC, a development that has reshaped the state’s political landscape.

Reacting through his social media platforms, Ganduje rejected the label, describing it as unnecessary and deeply surprising, given his long-standing relationship with Kwankwaso.

“I’m shocked and sad when I heard my bosom friend Rabiu Kwankwaso referring to me as his enemy. At no point did I see him as an enemy. We have gone too far beyond this,” Ganduje said.

The former APC national chairman stressed the need for restraint and unity, particularly at a time of significant political realignments in the state.

He noted that Kano State would benefit more from collective efforts than from deepening political divisions.

“I think there’s no better time for a united Kano than now. I urge him to calm down with politics and take it easy with himself,” he added.

The exchange has further drawn attention to the evolving political dynamics in Kano, as key actors reposition themselves ahead of future political contests.
