
Breaking: Kwara, Niger Governors Begins Discussion on Joint Security Strategy to Tackle Border Insecurity
Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has paid a condolence visit to his Niger State counterpart, Mohammed Umaru Bago, following recent terrorist attacks on communities within the Borgu Emirate of Niger State.

Describing the attacks as unfortunate and heartbreaking, Governor AbdulRazaq said the incidents had resulted in significant loss of lives, destruction of property, and displacement of residents, thereby deepening insecurity concerns in border communities.
The Kwara governor conveyed the sympathy of the Government and people of Kwara State, as well as that of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, to the government and people of Niger State
He assured that subnational governments would continue to work collaboratively with federal authorities and security agencies to address the growing security challenges across affected regions.
He stressed the need for stronger inter-state cooperation, intelligence sharing, and coordinated security operations, particularly in border areas where criminal elements often exploit porous boundaries.
Responding, Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago expressed appreciation for the solidarity visit, describing it as a demonstration of unity and shared responsibility.
He noted that Niger and Kwara States share contiguous borders around the Borgu Emirate and face similar security threats, making collaboration imperative.
Governor Bago emphasized the importance of sustained partnership between neighbouring states to protect lives, secure farmlands, and restore confidence among rural communities affected by recurring attacks.
