Baba Kamo Raises Alarm Over Rising Teenage Indulgence in Alcohol, Drugs, Hotel Patronage, and Indecent Lifestyles in Kwara
Popular comedian, actor, and producer, Habeeb Olatunji, popularly known as Baba Kamo, has expressed deep concern over the alarming rise in alcohol consumption, drug abuse, swimming, and hotel patronage among teenagers aged 15 to 18 in Kwara State.
In a viral video posted on his official social media pages and obtained by Just Event Online TV, Baba Kamo lamented the moral decline among youths. He warned that indecent dressing, substance abuse, and reckless lifestyles are becoming increasingly rampant
He called on parents to take full responsibility for their children’s moral and educational upbringing, stressing that failure to instill sound values could lead to future regret and disgrace.
The entertainer strongly advocated for community parenting, where society collectively disciplines children when they go astray, without their biological parents perceiving it as hostility or interference.
Baba Kamo also urged hoteliers and bar owners to prohibit the sale of alcohol and hard drugs to minors and to ban teenagers from using hotel facilities entirely.
Reflecting on his childhood, he recalled that children in the past only visited amusement parks and restaurants during festive seasons — a stark contrast to today’s generation, which now frequently patronizes hotels and beer parlors.
He further appealed to stakeholders, religious leaders, and policymakers to actively promote moral values and ethics, particularly in Ilorin, to help safeguard the future of the younger generation.
“This generation needs proper mentorship,” he emphasized, stressing the urgent need for intervention to restore discipline, responsibility, and ethical standards in society.
Also, Baba Kamo called on the government to establish a special task force committee to routinely monitor hotels and bars, ensuring they do not admit or serve underage patrons, or permit any activities that may lead to social vices.
