BREAKING : Ilorin Emirate Students Union announces Senator Saliu Mustapha as Grand Patron

The Ilorin Emirate Students Union (IESU), National Headquarters, has announced the appointment of the Senator representing Kwara Central, Distinguished Senator Saliu Mustapha, as the Grand Patron of the Union.

With this appointment, Senator Mustapha assumes the second-highest advisory role within the Union’s hierarchy—following only the Emir of Ilorin, who holds the title of Permanent Life Patron.

In a press statement made available to Just Event Online TV

The announcement was made by the President of the Union, Sheikh Zulukainaini AbdulRahman Opolo, during the Union’s first-ever Consultative Engagement, held in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital. The event brought together critical stakeholders and past leaders of the students’ body.

Sheikh Opolo described Senator Mustapha as a longstanding friend and pillar of support to the Union, recalling that the Senator recently donated a brand-new space vehicle to ease the Union’s logistics and mobility challenges.

He added that Senator Mustapha has remained unwavering in his support for the Union over the years, even during the tenure of previous administrations.

“We are proud to name Senator Saliu Mustapha as our Grand Patron today,” Opolo stated. “He has never turned his back on us, and we look forward to deepening this relationship under the current leadership.”

The Union President further disclosed that a formal presentation of the letter of credence to the Senator would be conducted at a later date.

Senator Saliu Mustapha is the Turaki of Ilorin Emirate. His recognition by the IESU is seen as a testament to his consistent commitment to youth development, education, and grassroots empowerment across Kwara State.
