Exclusive: How Madraza Teacher Rape 11 Years Old Girl In Ilorin
Sunday 22nd June was a terrible day for Abdulrahman Robiat, 11-year-old resident of Ilorin, Robiat left her house in company of her friends to attend Madraza as she does during the weekends. After the class comes to an end, her Madraza teacher identified as Muhammad Jamiu Musa stopped her from going home with others, he then asked Robiat to get a plate for him from his room, which she obliged.
Robiat narrated “ he sent me to his room to get his plate for food, while trying to locate the plate, I felt his hands on my body, he dragged me to the wall, he pulled my trouser down by force, he tried to penetrate me through my private parts, I pleaded, he left me after back and forth, washed his hands, while I attempt to leave, he pulled me back again, this time he penetrated me fully, after satisfying himself, he left me alone, he threaten to harm me if I ever tell anyone, on my way home, I noticed I was bleeding, when I got home, I tried to stop the blood but it didn’t stop, that’s how my mum found out, I was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital for medical attention.
In a conversation with Robiat’s mother, Mrs Abdulrahman Muslimat, she said “ My daughter almost lost her life during that moment, appart from the fact that Jamiu threatened to kill her if she reveals what happened to anyone, she bled for over three hours, Jamiu was arrested through the help of the human rights organization I met at the hospital where she was admitted, she underwent surgery to stop the bleeding. It was a sad experience for me as a mother. Still, I won’t keep silent, until justice is served as expected, She is fine now, but we are still at the hospital, we are unable to pay N712,000 for her medical bill, I urge Nigerians to come to our rescue.
In a WhatsApp conversation with the plaintiff lawyer, Anthonia Oshiniwe, Esq, President CSO Platform on SGBV and Secretary Child Rights Implementation Committee, she berated Jamiu for the inhumane act “It’s so unfortunate that rape is fast becoming a trend in Nigeria, even in a city like Ilorin, upon hearing about the incidence, we brought Muhammad Jamiu (Acuused ) before the court, Jamiu pleaded guilty during the interrogation stages with the police, Magistrate B.O Saidu remanded him to Oke Kura Correctional Centre, the case has been adjourned till 17th July 2025. We won’t stop until we get the deserved justice.
Airing her view, Hajia Fatimah Bintu Dikko, the representative of Maro Dikko Foundation who has been following the case said “ Its so unfortunate what our society is fast becoming, issue of rape happens almost every week, one out of many are being reported, parents should know that keeping things like this away from the public will cause more damage than death, they should always speak up, the young girl is badly affected, the family is in debt now for her hospital bills, we call on Nigerian to come to their aid, while we continue to seek for justice”
