Kwara Central Senator Salutes Nigerians on Democracy Day
Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central in the National Assembly, has commended the resilience of Nigerians and their efforts in sustaining democracy over the past 26 years.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Nasif Sholagberu to journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital, to commemorate Democracy Day, the Senator congratulated Nigerians, particularly the people of Kwara Central for their continued commitment to the democratic journey since the return to civilian rule in 1999.
“June 12 is more than a date on the calendar. It stands as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by courageous men and women who fought for the democratic freedoms we enjoy today,” Senator Mustapha said.
He noted that Democracy Day serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by pro-democracy heroes and heroines in the struggle for the democratic freedom the nation enjoys today.
The lawmaker urged Nigerians to honour their legacy by embracing patriotism and contributing meaningfully to the growth and stability of the country’s democratic institutions.
He expressed optimism that democracy, as a system of government, will continue to gain strength year after year in Nigeria.
Senator Mustapha, however, enjoined Nigerians to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and his administration’s efforts to enhance the quality of life for all citizens to enhance national development.
