Kwara Central Senator to Distribute Tractors, Farm Inputs to Boost Agriculture
The Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Mallam Saliu Mustapha, is set to distribute multi-million Naira worth of agricultural implements, including tractors and farm inputs, to farmers, cooperative groups, and associations across the district.
The distribution exercise is scheduled to take place today in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, as part of the senator’s efforts to support farmers as the 2025 rainy season farming activities begin in earnest.
According to a statement signed by his Legislative Aide, Mallam AbdulRahman Abdulkadir, the initiative underscores Senator Mustapha’s commitment to rural development and agricultural empowerment in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The distribution of these farm implements is a deliberate intervention by Senator Saliu Mustapha to boost productivity among our local farmers and reduce the burden of access to mechanized farming tools,” the statement read.
In the last two years, Senator Mustapha has continued to leverage his position as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture Production Services and Rural Development to attract multi-billion naira capital and human development projects to Kwara Central. These efforts have significantly boosted agricultural productivity, empowered rural communities, and improved livelihoods across the district.
The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, recently commended Mustapha’s performance, describing him as one of the Senate’s most outstanding first-timers. “Kwara Central is indeed lucky to have Senator Saliu Mustapha as its representative. In terms of legislative input and project facilitation, he has outperformed many of his senior colleagues,” Barau noted.
The intervention is expected to enhance food security, increase yields, and improve livelihoods for beneficiaries across the four local government areas that make up Kwara Central.
