NECO Disowns Fake Facebook Account Used to Scam Public in Registrar’s Name
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has disassociated itself from a fake Facebook account created in the name of its Registrar and Chief Executive, Professor Dantani Wushishi, which is being used to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, the Council’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr. Azeez Sani, alerted the public to the fraudulent activity and warned against interacting with the impersonator’s page.
“The Council wishes to alert the public to the existence of this fake Facebook account to prevent individuals from falling victim to these fraudsters,” Sani stated.
He added that the matter has been reported to the appropriate security agencies, and that steps are being taken to identify and prosecute those behind the scam.
