
2027: Kawu, Bakare Inspect Damaged Transformers in Igbaja After Nearly a Year Without Electricity
Engr. Sulyman Bolakale Kawu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kwara State, alongside Hon. Moshood Olanrewaju Bakare, Hon. Saheed Popoola, Rev. Cornelius Fawenu and other stakeholders, has visited the damaged electricity transformers serving Igbaja and surrounding communities.
The visit followed concerns over the prolonged power outage affecting Igbaja and more than 60 surrounding communities, which have reportedly been without electricity for almost a year.
During the visit, the delegation inspected the damaged transformers and engaged with stakeholders on the electricity situation and its impact on residents, businesses and other activities across the affected communities.
Residents expressed concerns about the effect of the power outage on businesses, artisans, students, households and other economic activities across the affected communities.
The delegation acknowledged the importance of electricity to the development and economic activities of the communities, while discussing the need for appropriate attention to the damaged infrastructure and restoration of power supply.
The engagement formed part of the continued consultations and community engagements by the PDP candidates and stakeholders across the area, with a focus on listening to residents and understanding issues affecting their communities.
