Mahmood Yakubu Hands Over to Agbamuche as Acting INEC Chairman
Professor Mahmood Yakubu has handed over leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, who will now serve as Acting National Chairman of the electoral body.
Yakubu announced the handover on Tuesday during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.
He urged the commissioners and directors of the commission to extend their full support to Agbamuche as she steers the affairs of the commission pending the appointment of a substantive chairman.
Agbamuche, who hails from Delta State, is currently the oldest serving National Commissioner at INEC.
