CLTC DG Applauds Kaduna Govt’s Appointment of Citizenship and Leadership Aides

The Director-General of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC), Ms. Rinsola Abiola, has commended the Kaduna State Government for appointing a new set of Senior and Special Assistants to drive citizenship and leadership development in the state, describing the move as “a commendable step that reinforces youth inclusion and values-based governance.”

In a statement released on Monday, Abiola congratulated the appointees and lauded Governor Uba Sani for prioritising civic responsibility and leadership capacity-building among young people.

“Today, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the newly appointed Senior and Special Assistants on Citizenship and Leadership by the Kaduna State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Uba Sani,” she said.

According to her, the decision reflects a government genuinely committed to shaping a new generation of public-spirited leaders anchored on integrity, empathy and service.

“This commendable step reflects a deep commitment to nurturing civic responsibility, leadership excellence and youth inclusion in governance — values that lie at the heart of our work at the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre,” she added.

Abiola explained that by establishing dedicated roles for citizenship and leadership development, Kaduna has set a precedent that other states should emulate.

“By creating dedicated roles focused on citizenship and leadership, Kaduna State is setting a strong precedent for institutionalizing values-based leadership development at the subnational level. I sincerely hope that more state governments will follow this example,” she noted.

The newly appointed aides include:

DSP Abdullahi AU Ladan (Rtd.) – Senior Special Assistant, Citizenship and Leadership I

Yusuf Umar Garkuwa – Senior Special Assistant, Citizenship and Leadership II

Aaron Bako – Senior Special Assistant, Citizenship and Leadership III

Atang Musa Danjuma – Special Assistant, Citizenship and Leadership

Abiola wished them success as they assume their duties, encouraging them to embrace the opportunity to build responsible citizenship across communities.

“Congratulations once again to all the appointees. I wish you great success as you take on this important task of shaping responsible and service-driven citizens,” she stated.

With increasing public calls for leadership accountability and youth empowerment nationwide, observers say Kaduna’s move may signal a gradual shift towards values-driven governance across states.

As Nigeria continues to grapple with challenges of leadership trust, civic disconnect and weak public service ethics, the success of this initiative could influence broader reforms — not just in Kaduna, but across the federation.
