
FARMER GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO WOMEN INCLUSIVITY IN GOVERNANCE
Niger State governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has reassured women in the State that he will continue to involve them in decision making processes and governance.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,Bologi Ibrahim,the farmer governor stated this when he received the Zone C women stakeholders platform on a courtesy visit at the Government House Minna.
Farmer Umaru Bago acknowledged women as a strong backbone of his political career and admitted that the registered number of APC women from Zone C which stands at over one million cannot be taken for granted.
Farmer governor Umaru Bago said Zone C has been battling with insecurity issues despite that, APC women registered membership is over one million and the position cannot be taken for granted.
He pointed out that the women should endeavour to come out en masse and support the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu and the new niger agenda of the farmer governor.
The farmer governor described the group as a landmark group that has set a pace and thrown a challenge to other zones for women to come together and drive APC and the new niger agenda forward.
Farmer Umaru Bago said he is impressed with the way and manner the women were able to put themselves together and disclosed that, most of them will be considered when the State government decides to appoint people that will take over vacant positions.
Farmer Umaru Bago used the medium to emphasize that the State government is working assiduously to combat insecurity in Borgu and other regions and ensure that Nigerlites live peacefully.
Convener of the group, Hauwa Bako Kontagora in her speech appreciated the farmer governor for his tremendous support to women across the State.
She said, the group which consists of former and serving commissioners, special advisers, Directors-General, executive directors, vice chairpersons, local government women leaders and other stakeholders was created to mobilize and amplify the voices of women through active participation in governance, and remain commited to working with the farmer governor to promote women empowerment, economic inclusion and other initiatives.
Hauwa Bako said, the group is seeking for greater inclusion and ensure that women in the zone are given avenue for leadership, decision making and developmental processes even as they reassured the farmer governor of their commitment to partnering with him for a stronger Niger State.
Former commissioner for Education, Fatima Madugu and former Commissioner for women affairs, Hassana Adamu in their separate remarks assured the farmer governor that they will campaign vigorously and ensure that President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates in the State are elected.
