Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago at 51

According to the American Host and Television Producer, Oprah Winfrey, “birthdays are a time to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the future”.Every 22nd February is the day Farmer Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago is adding a year to his existence. He is more than just a Governor, because he has huge love for his people and has tenacity that translates to success on his job
I have lived in Minna for thirteen years and I can unequivocally say that the current Governor has surpassed his predecessors in all ramifications.Though the previous administrations in the state also had their strengths. The Minna metropolis is now a construction site of different projects like roads and flyovers. Not only in Minna even in Bida and other local governments ,works are ongoing .
A friend told me recently that Governor Bago came prepared, that was why he commenced work immediately . I can’t agree less with him because it was the truth. His performance speaks volumes to the extent that I overheard some people saying that he has exposed the abysmal performances of his predecessors.
I have written about four different articles on how Governor Bago is transforming the state to a higher pedestal. Even the opposition in Niger state can’t hide their admiration for him, because of his performance, wherewithal, and approach to governance.
Agriculture is one of the prettiest faces of his administration. He was quoted to have disclosed that the State generated 600 billion from the sector. He has equally promised to crash the prices of food items during Ramadan.
In recognition of his giant stride in Agriculture, the Federal University Of Technology, Minna during 33rd Convocation Ceremony gave him an Honourary Doctorate Degree in Agriculture, and Farmer Bago dedicated it to the future farmers in Niger state and Nigeria. He said he did it as a result of his passion for Agriculture
Significantly,Bago is one of the champions of inclusive politics in Nigeria, because I have never heard from any quarter that he had neglected them after winning the election. He is providing good governance in pari passu to party politics. To corroborate this, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,Bologi Ibrahim in a statement released on Thursday, described Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago as a strategist with an uncommon zeal for a better life for all
On his 51st birthday, I pray that Allah grants him long life, good health, continued guidance and prosperity, in the service of Niger state, and humanity.
