Ikeja Cantonment Renames After Lagbaja

The famous Ikeja cantonment, Maryland, near Ikeja GRA has been renamed in honour of fallen hero, ex-chief of army staff Gen Toareed A. Lagbaja who died after a protracted illness.

The Army honored the late COAS, by renaming the cantonment during his posthumous birthday on Friday February 28. He would have been 57 today.

Lt General Lagbaja had a notable connection with the Ikeja Military Cantonment, as he was a former Commander of 9 Brigade headquarters in the cantonment. Later, as the Chief of Army Staff, he initiated significant infrastructural development projects within the cantonment.

The cantonment has also underdone a facelift right from the front gate which has been moved a bit backward from the Mobolaji Bank Anthony way leading to the airpo
