NOA D.G Stresses Need for Nigerian Identity, Pledges Partnership with Baynakum
The Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has emphasized the urgent need to build a strong Nigerian identity as the foundation for unity and family values. He stated this during a courtesy visit by Baynakum Family Counselling Centre, led by CEO Ustaz Dr. Abdulfatah Adeyemi, to the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
Issa-Onilu explained that while Nigerians cherish religious and ethnic identities, the absence of a clear national identity remains a challenge. He said this inspired NOA’s Nigerian Identity Project and the National Values Charter. He stressed the role of family and society in shaping responsible citizens and pledged collaboration with Baynakum to promote reorientation initiatives.
Baynakum leaders, Dr. Adeyemi and Dr. Abdurasaq Adio, reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening families and youth engagement through counselling, advocacy, and campaigns against social vices. They noted that a partnership with NOA would amplify their impact, extending across Nigeria and other West African countries.
