S2B Foundation Organises One-Day Medical Outreach in Ilorin

S2B Foundation has organised a One-Day Medical Outreach and Screening Programme for the residents of Gambari Community in Ilorin.

The event which took place at Balogun Gambari Wards Development Association Secretariat,Akerebiata, Sobi road,Ilorin, witnessed a large turnout of people.The theme of the outreach is”Your Wealth,Your Power”

The Co-ordinator of the Medical Outreach,who is also the Director of Admin & Strategic Programming of the S2B Foundation,Mr Sulaiman Akorede Diamond said the aim of organising the event was to increase awareness on Hiv Aids, communicable and non communicable diseases, uptake of contraceptives e.g male and female condom.

He also explained that the objective was to enhance access to healthcare services, because people don’t like going to hospitals. Consequently,it will increase awareness about their health lifestyle and reduction in risky behaviour

Mr Akorede disclosed that S2B Foundation organised the medical outreach in partnerships with Charity Heart Saver Medicare Foundation (CHEMFOUND), National Youth Network on HIV AIDS in Nigeria(NYNETHA) and Kwara State Government

Mrs Bukola Kadri, who is one of the nurses that were attending to the beneficiaries also affirmed that the programme was timely, interesting and peaceful, because it was based on unravelling common diseases in people as they get to know their health status.

Mallam Garba Okanla Dauda,one of the beneficiaries of the medical outreach explained that the programme was well organised.He said this kind of outreach will avail the people the opportunity to discover their health status, because many are not financially buoyant to go to the hospitals.

He asserted that people came out in large numbers for the outreach without forcing them and prayed for the sponsor and organisers of the event.

In the same vein,The President of Balogun Gambari Wards Development Association, Engineer Awodi Ayodele said the free medical outreach has a lot of impacts on their people,most especially the aged ones across the four wards.He explained that over the years the exercise has recorded large turnout and at the same time consistent.According to him “It is better to know one’s health status,afer all, health, they say,is wealth.We appreciate the donor,the medical committee of our association and others.

Alhaji Yusuf Ibrahim Gesinde,who is also one of the leaders in the community, opined”We thank Allah and S2B Foundation for this well planned medical outreach exercise for the Gambari community.”He added that the exercise would address some medical challenges in the lives of some of the Beneficiaries from the community,who have discovered their health status.

“Drugs and referrals being administered by the team to the beneficiaries, which is quite encouraging” he said

In his words,”we sincerely appreciate this effort as our people have been enlightened on their health status.”
