Saliu Mustapha Not a Senatorial Aspirant, Disregard Fake List in Circulation — Aide
The media aide to Senator Saliu Mustapha, Nasif Sholagberu, has urged the public to disregard a purported list of aspirants in the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary elections, describing the document as fake, misleading, and without any official validity.
In a statement issued on Monday, Sholagberu clarified that Senator Mustapha is not a senatorial aspirant and has no connection to the list currently being circulated on various platforms.
The statement explained that the document falsely included his name among senatorial contestants, stressing that it did not originate from any recognized APC electoral authority and should therefore be dismissed in its entirety.
For the avoidance of doubt, the aide reaffirmed that Senator Mustapha had formally obtained APC nomination forms to contest for the governorship of Kwara State in the 2027 general elections. He noted that the process was carried out openly and publicly in the presence of party leaders, stakeholders, supporters, and members of the public.
He further clarified that the senator neither purchased nomination forms for a senatorial race nor participated in any screening or electoral exercise related to such a contest.
Sholagberu also challenged those responsible for the circulation of the document to provide credible evidence supporting their claims, describing the development as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and create confusion within the party.
He advised party members and the general public to ignore the fake list and refrain from further dissemination of the misinformation.
