
Senate Begins Two-Day Public Hearing on Tax Reform Bills
The Nigerian Senate has started a two-day public hearing to review proposed tax reform bills aimed at improving the country’s tax system.
Key figures from the nation’s economic and financial sectors are attending the hearing, including Finance Minister Wale Edun, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Chairman Zacch Adedeji, and Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) CEO Mele Kyari, among others.
Senator Sani Musa, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, assured that the hearing would be open and focused on national interests.
The goal of the hearing is to review and update the nation’s tax laws to better reflect the current economic situation.
The proposed reforms are intended to create a fairer and more inclusive tax system by addressing issues in the existing tax policies.
Senator Musa called on all stakeholders and the public to actively engage in the discussions to help shape a tax system that supports economic growth and national prosperity.
