
Senate Observes One-Minute Silence in Honour of Late Chief Imam of Ilorin
The Senate, during its plenary session on Tuesday, observed a one-minute silence in honour of the late Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Solih (OON), who passed away two weeks ago.
The motion was presented by Senator Saliu Mustapha, who described the late Chief Imam as a revered religious leader known for his humility, deep devotion to faith, and unwavering commitment to peace and unity within the Ilorin Emirate and beyond.

According to the lawmaker, Sheikh Solih dedicated his life to the service of God and humanity, leaving behind a legacy of spiritual leadership and moral guidance that positively impacted the Muslim community and society at large.
In recognition of his immense contributions, Senator Mustapha urged his colleagues to honour the late cleric with a one-minute silence as a mark of respect for a life well spent in selfless service.
The Senate complied with the request, while prayers were offered for the repose of his soul. Lawmakers prayed that Almighty Allah grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus and console his family, the Ilorin Emirate, and the entire Muslim Ummah.
