Unveiling The First Sarauniya of Ilorin Emirate: Hajiya Muinat Bola Shagaya.

It was at an annual gathering of Ilorin sons and daughters under the auspices of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) this year where I had the opportunity to see Hajiya Muinat Shagaya for the first time.

The event usually takes place at the four court yard, palace of Emir of Ilorin.Hajia Shagaya’s name is not new. She has been a household name in Nigeria business environment In fact, she is one of the richest women in Africa

The popular Ilorin Emirate woman billionaire was the Chief launcher at this year’s event. When she was called to the podium she observed all necessary protocols by greeting Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and Emir of Ilorin. She also mentioned my political principal’s name Mallam Saliu Mustapha, the Turaki of Ilorin which she did it in a style because she described him as “our incoming Senator”.

At that point, happiness enveloped me and I began to appreciate the popular Nigerian billionaire. It is not unexpected to accord her some accolades as she donated a whopping sum of ten million naira for the completion of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive union ICT Hub.

In this same event Mallam Saliu Mustapha also donated 20 million naira for the completion of IEDPU ICT Hub and Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq equally donated 25 million naira for the same purpose.

Apart from being a successful business woman in Nigeria and Africa Hajiya Muinat Shagaya has been a philathropist for a greater part of her life.It is in recognition of this that the Emir of Ilorin Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari gave her the title of Sarauniya of Ilorin Emirate . Meaning the “Queen of Ilorin Emirate”.
Hajiya Bola Muinat Shagaya MON was born on the 10th October, 1959.One of her sons Mukhtar Shagaya is contesting for House of representatives under APC for Ilorin West/Asa Federal constituency.

I wish the First Sarauniya of Ilorin Emirate and one of the richest women in Africa a blessed use of the new title.

It is a new responsibility on her shoulder, so if there’s anything she has not done enough she should do it. Hajia should equally continue whatever good she has been doing for the people of Ilorin
