Woman Who Collapsed During Office Address Identified as Federal Health Pharmacist

A pharmacist with the Port Health Services under the Federal Ministry of Health has been identified as the woman who died after collapsing while addressing her colleagues during an official gathering in Abuja.

The deceased, Pharmacist Bilkisu, reportedly slumped and passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, moments after delivering a vote of thanks to her colleagues and superiors at the ministry’s premises.

A video of the tragic incident, which has since gone viral on social media, shows her speaking calmly before she suddenly collapsed, triggering widespread shock and emotional reactions across the country.

Colleagues and acquaintances later confirmed her identity, describing her death as sudden and deeply painful. One of them, Kasim Sulaiman Abdullahi, a colleague and friend of the deceased’s husband, said he was at the Federal Ministry of Health on the same day and was informed around mid-afternoon that a staff member had died.

He explained that it was only later while attending funeral prayers scheduled for that evening that he realized the deceased was the same colleague who had collapsed earlier at the office.

Following the confirmation of her identity, tributes and condolences have continued to pour in from colleagues, friends, and social media users who described the late pharmacist as dedicated, respectful, and professional.

A senior colleague, Asiya Sa’id, described her as a committed professional and prayed for Allah’s mercy upon her soul, noting that her death serves as a reminder of the certainty of death for all mankind.

Port Health Services, an agency under the Federal Ministry of Health, is responsible for safeguarding Nigeria’s borders against the spread of diseases through international travel and trade. Pharmacists within the agency play critical roles in public health protection, including disease prevention and compliance with health regulations at entry points.
